How A Countdown Concert With Adam Lambert Split A Nation

Curated by

The move has definitely gained traction — the counter-petition has garnered over 7,500 signatures, and has been shared widely on social media. At the same time, those staunchly against Lambert’s appearance don’t seem to be backing down. Amid the cacophony of voices, the site published a  list of 17 pro-gay brands  Singaporeans against LGBT rights should avoid — Google, Coca-Cola and KFC, among others — should they truly want to boycott the movement.

  • The counter-petition has gained support from some local personalities, such as comedian Hossan Leong and singer-songwriter Nat Ho.
  • Some tried to explain their stance on social media, including on the Facebook group, We Are Against Pink Dot in Singapore .
  • In 2013, the National Council of Churches in Singapore received a complaint against Lambert’s concert at The Star Vista, based on concerns that the singer might promote “the gay lifestyle” at a church-owned venue.

  • Adam Lambert is one of the sweetest performers in the business. To say he should be like that phony Sam Smith is a sin in itself. He is gay.. it’s 2016 and he is proud. Singers like Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus etc are worshipped and you have the nerve to condemn Adam and tell him to not be himself. You are missing out on one of the greatest performers in years and years to grace a stage. And to say he should not be himself and be a hypocrite and two-faced mouse like Smith TICKS ME OFF NO END

  • Lambert is not a “loose cannon” – he plays to his audience – check what he’s done over these six years – hundreds of performances (and dozens with Queen) – he’s even performed in Singapore before in 2011 – this whole brouhaha is ridiculous and makes Singapore look silly. Singapore is lucky to have this magnificent live performer at this concert.
