Darryl Dawkins as seen during his days with the Sixers. More than anything Darryl accomplished in his basketball career as the inimitable ‘Chocolate Thunder,’ he was most proud of his role and responsibility as a husband and father. Darryl “Chocolate Thunder” Dawkins, the former Philadelphia 76ers player who gained fame for twice shattering backboards with his thunderous slam dunks, died Thursday, a friend of the family confirmed.
