Microsoft has announced that its new virtual personal assistant, Cortana, until now available for Windows 10 (and Windows Phone 8.1), is now available in beta for Android in the US. The virtual personal assistant is capable of looking up information when you need it as well as providing recommendations based on your preferences. Competition in the virtual assistant sector has never been so stiff.

  • In time, Cortana evolves to learn more about you with search results and recommendations becoming increasingly targeted.
  • San Francisco: Facebook Inc is testing a personal digital assistant called “M” within its Messenger service that can answer questions with live human help and perform tasks such as buying gifts online and booking restaurants.
  • The software was originally introduced in Windows 8.1 before becoming an integral part of the Windows 10 package on all devices (PC, smartphone or tablet).
